Metal Centre Čakovec
The general objective of the project and the Institution Metal Center Čakovec is to build a research infrastructure intended for the scientific research community to conduct top research aimed at strengthening scientific excellence, creating knowledge society and increasing the competitiveness of metal and related industries in the area of Međimurje County and Northwestern Croatia.
The infrastructure part of the founding of the Metals Core is co-financed from the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion, the Public Invitation Investment in organizational reform and infrastructure in the research, development and innovation sectors in the amount of HRK 31,290,223.12.

The project’s holder is the Međimurje County, and its partners are the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rijeka, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics of Varaždin and the Polytechnic of Međimurje in Čakovec. In the implementation of the project as operational entities acting Public Institution for development Međimurje County REDEA and Technology and Innovation Center of Međimurje. Project implementation started on 1 July 2018 and will last until 1 April 2020.
The project will create infrastructure conditions for the operation of the Metals Core through the reconstruction of the former livery stable within the Center of Knowledge of Međimurje County, which is being developed in the area of the former barracks in Čakovec and the equipment needed for the work of the institution and the conduct of research and development activities will be obtained.
The Development and Educational Centre for the Metal Industry – Metal Centre Čakovec was established for the purpose of project implementation and further development of the whole initiative, the founder is Međimurje County and the Metal centre will be enrolled in the Register of Scientific Organizations led by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia.
